Reskate recollects abandoned boards which once reshaped are delivered to either acclaimed or novel illustrators to create a one of a kind piece.
From November 2015 until February 2016, I was the resident artist of PARADISE AiR , in the city of Matsudo, Japan.
The LONG Stay Program gave me the opportunity to produce a large scale artwork based in the city of Matsudo while living and engaging with the local community.
My modus operandi was very simple. Explore, draw & exhibit.
The starting point for this series was a commission for The New Yorker that led to a personal investigation in depicting this specific urban environment.
Drawing mostly by memory and random visual references, a distorted, personal and strange new city appears. It's the New York I have inside my mind.
Pen on paper. Aprox. 1300 x 4000 mm
A very special private commission.
A 4 meter long drawing based in the city of Genova, Italy done in 74 days. It's basically my interpretation of Genova, where the client is from. Aiming to convey the feel of Genova focusing on some elements like the port, the old town, the incredible infrastructures and highways that are part of the city.
Each day, one drawing. Nothing fancy, I call them test-drawings.
They tell a bit of my research on motifs and shapes. And they are all about the fun of drawing. In 2012 for 136 days I draw one of these each day. On a A5 size high quality paper sheet with my faithfull Staedtler 0.1 mm pen. I stil continue to add to the challenge but now with a more irregular pace. See them all at blog.mistermourao.com
